In partnership with the Judicial Council of California, the State Bar of California invites you to a convening on Wednesday, September 16 to learn about the distribution plan for the $31 million allocated from the National Mortgage Settlement to provide legal assistance in landlord-tenant disputes to prevent homelessness, promote housing stability, and increase affordable housing. Our goal is to come together to brainstorm innovative and creative strategies to effectuate positive "big picture" changes to tackle the impending eviction crisis and coordinate efforts to best serve low-income Californians at risk of homelessness.
Among the topics to be discussed are multi-agency partnerships, emerging technology interventions, eviction diversion programs, and other approaches to preventing homelessness. The California Housing Finance Agency will also provide a presentation on their efforts to distribute $300 million for housing counseling services and mortgage assistance to qualified California households. Finally, there will be breakout sessions to allow organizations to coordinate and collaborate on potential regional and statewide efforts on both the $22 million formula and $7.3 million competitive components of the grant.
We hope you will join us as we bring together thought leaders and experts to help our community develop high-impact and innovative projects to address California's growing homelessness crisis.
We will distribute a program agenda once all of the logistical details have been finalized. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Greg Shin at Greg.Shin@calbar.ca.gov, 213-765-1505 or Christine Holmes at Christine.Holmes@calbar.ca.gov, 415-538-2535.
