About
2021 Update on Key Legal Services Issues
A full year has passed since the first shelter-in-place orders were issued in the Bay Area. While most of us are still working remotely, much has changed. If you're like us, you are feeling overwhelmed by the volume and pace of the changes that are transpiring as a result of:
- The anticipated new stimulus plan
- Changes in the shelter-in-place orders
- Courts reopening for in-person hearings
- The Biden Administration’s new executive orders
Trying to stay current is a difficult and time consuming task, as there are many online programs and so little time/capacity to attend them all. In just an hour, our “in-house experts” will provide a brief update and answer questions on the following topics:
Housing: led by Hugo Ramirez, Community Development Program Manager at Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development Immigration: led by Navin Moul (Zellerbach Family Foundation) and Nancy Wiltsek (van Löben Sels/RembeRock Foundation) Benefits: led by Claire Solot (Bigglesworth Family Foundation) & Salena Copeland (LAAC)

Regularly, the LSFN will host a funder roundtables to facilitate funder-specific discussions around the ways in which COVID-19 is impacting the populations served by legal services organizations, and the legal aid organizations themselves. Additionally, we'll discuss legislation being considered to help highly impacted communities, provide information on helpful tools, and explore strategies for funders to support those most affected.
